Simple and Yummy Fall Flavors

Share it Please

Pumpkin is my favorite fall flavor, but apples are a close second.  Around February I get sick of apples and crave summer fruits again, but for now I love apples!  That said, I had a bag of apples sitting on our kitchen table that I completely forgot about and they were starting to go a little soft so I thought they'd be good for baking.

I hunted down this easy recipe for apple crisp and tweaked it a little bit - turned out pretty tasty!  The main change I made to the original recipe is substituting whole wheat flour for all-purpose.  I like it in crisp and crumble toppings because it adds a deeper, almost nutty flavor.  Next time I'll probably toss in some toasted walnuts or pecans.

Check out the recipe here and let me know what your favorite apple recipe is!
