Whew - I don't know about you, but this summer flew by for me! Between family vacation, my daughter's first birthday, family and friends visiting, plus the usual work/grocery shopping/cleaning/life stuff, I can't quite believe it's September this morning.
September is my favorite month, largely because its my birthday month. I also love that it ushers in my favorite season: fall. I love the pool and the beach as much an anyone, but I hate the HHH (hazy/hot/humid) summers of Maryland...unless I'm at the pool or the beach of course!
I haven't been doing a lot of inventive cooking this summer, mostly opting for quick recipes that don't require a lot of cooking or can be thrown together easily to feed a mob of people. Some great meals were had this summer and I've added a few standby favorites to my arsenal, but I don't feel like I got to just relax and have as much fun experimenting in the kitchen.
And so with a new month ushering us in with the promise of cooler days, I thought I'd share 2 new recipes I tried yesterday. The chicken dish we had for dinner was so delicious and incredibly easy. I love the spice on the sweet potatoes that accompany it and am already planning on making it again. The dessert (blackberry pie bars) is amazing and kind of a salute to the berries of summer.
What are some of your favorite recipes of the summer?
Blackberry Pie Bars
Ginger-Garlic Roasted Chicken w/Curried Sweet Potatoes
